HOW DOES PRICING WORK?
There are two types of pricing, binding and non-binding. We give you a binding, guaranteed price, that doesn’t change unless what you need moved actually increases or decreases, or circumstances change, such as there are more staircases than you originally thought. No end of job surprises, and it’s all in writing. A contract signed and guaranteed by our company.
WHAT DOES YOUR FEE INCLUDE?
Everything, and we mean everything. Travel time, fuel and toll charges, all labor, packing (if requested), loading the truck, travel to new location, unloading the truck and unpacking (if requested). You will know before you hire us what the entire move will cost, with zero surprises at the end of the job.
HOW IS PAYMENT MADE?
We take a deposit when the agreement is signed, and you reserve a time and date in our work calendar. The balance is due before we unload the truck at your new location.
WHAT TYPE OF PAYMENTS DO YOU ACCEPT?
All major credit cards, bank checks, money orders or cash. We do not accept personal checks.
WHAT PAPERWORK WILL I BE GETTING?
- A copy of the agreement, which covers in detail, all items we will be taking along, as well as the final price and all our legal responsibilities to you.
- A copy of the federal booklet, “Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move”.
- Contact information. You will be assigned a personal contact representative, along with his or her direct line phone number. Your representative will be available to you from start to finish. No call center, no voicemail recordings.
WHAT IS AN ORDER OF SERVICE?
This is a document authorizing us to take and transport your belongings.
WHAT IS A BILL OF LADING?
That’s the contract between you and us. Read it very carefully before signing it, because it spells out all of our and your responsibilities.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE TO FILE A CLAIM?
You have 9 months to file a claim.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO MOVE?
Off season and off- peak days. Since over 2/3 of all moves are made between April and August, if it is at all possible to move during the slower, non-peak months, you will have more opportunity to select and secure the exact date you would like. Most people move at the end of the month, so scheduling an appointment in the middle of the month will be easier for you to do as well.
HOW LONG IN ADVANCE SHOULD I CONTACT YOU?
As soon as you know your plans, especially if they are during the busy season. We will always try to accommodate you, whenever you call, but strongly suggest at least one month in advance.
HOW LONG WILL THE MOVE TAKE?
That depends on what you have, where it is located in your home, the distance to your new location and any unusual circumstances that are present at your new home. We have done moves in as short as two or three hours, as well as moves that have taken all day.
WHAT GEOGRAPHIC AREA DO YOU COVER?
We can pick up your belongings from anywhere in New Jersey and move them to anywhere in New Jersey, as well as neighboring non-New Jersey areas, such as Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Rockland County, New York and Staten Island, New York. We do not do long distance moves that are over 100 miles away. Call us and just let us know where you are moving.
IS THERE A MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM SIZE MOVE?
We have no minimum size move, but we do have a 3 -hour minimum time frame for the move. There is no maximum size move. We can do anything, from a single item to a 3,000 sq. ft. or even larger home.
DO YOU DO NON-RESIDENTIAL MOVES?
Yes, commercial, industrial, retail—any items from any location in New Jersey to your new location.
DO YOU OFFER PACKING SERVICES?
Yes, we do. We can pack up everything you have in each and every closet, cabinet, or chest of drawers. No items are too small or too large.
WHAT CAN’T YOU MOVE?
We cannot move any hazardous materials, hot tubs, sheds or firearms, not locked in cases.

HOW DO YOU PROTECT THE FLOORS AND WALLS IN THE HOME I AM LEAVING AND THE ONE TO WHICH I AM MOVING?

ARE YOU AVAILABLE ON SUNDAYS?
We are normally not available on Sundays. We have a 6-day work week, but can make an exception if Sunday is your only option.
DO YOU PROVIDE BOXES?
We can provide you with any size boxes, including wardrobe boxes. Other companies may include the boxes “free” in their inflated estimates. We add boxes as a separate charge, so you only pay for them if you actually need and use them. You are not required to use or purchase any boxes from us.
DO I NEED TO EMPTY ALL MY DRAWERS?
No. We can do the packing for you and in many cases, we can move the items without having to empty the drawer itself.
DO I HAVE TO TAKE APART OUR BEDS?
Not at all. Taking apart beds and putting them back together in your new home can all be part of the guaranteed price service we provide. You simply watch and enjoy the day.
DO I NEED TO OFFER FOOD TO THE MOVERS?
Required? Absolutely not. They will take care of themselves, but, of course, you are welcome to offer them any food or drinks you would like to during the course of the move.
DO I HAVE TO BE HOME?
Yes, for several reasons. First of all, there are papers you need to sign when we arrive and when the job is completed. Also, we do two required walk throughs. The first one is at your existing residence when we are done, to make sure we took everything we were supposed to take, nothing more or less. The second walk through is at your new home to make sure that not only are all your items accounted for, but that we have put them exactly where you want them to be located.
ARE YOU LICENSED AND INSURED?
Yes, and we would be happy to furnish you with a copy of both documents.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Your deposit is refundable if you cancel more than 4 days before your scheduled move. If you move on a different date, within 60 days of your first move date, then the deposit is applied to your new moving date.
ARE YOU A BROKER OR A CARRIER?
We are a licensed carrier who does the actual work. Many times, without realizing it, you are talking to a broker who sells the job but doesn’t do the work and farms it out to a carrier who does the actual job. Now, you find yourself dealing with two separate companies for the same move. With Move It Away Today we are with you from start to finish and you have your own customer service representative who will work with you every step of the way. We never subcontract out any of our jobs.
ARE THERE ANY POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL CHARGES?
Only if something changes. For example, if you have more items than originally stated, if the items are not located where you told us they would be, or if you decide you want additional services, like packing or unpacking that are not indicated in the contract. If nothing changes on your part, then there are no additional hidden surprise charges at the end.
